LETTERING DESIGN

Book cover with a purple background featuring yellow stars, a ruler, a screwdriver, and pliers. The title in neon-style text reads, 'Either I will find a way or I will make one.' A young girl with curly hair, safety glasses, and a white and blue shirt is working on an electronic project with wires and tools.

The Brief

GoldieBlox create toys, games, and entertainment for girls to develop an early interest in engineering and confidence in problem-solving.

They needed an original artwork featuring an empowering quote to celebrate the strength, resilience, and potential of girls around the world.

The target audience were girls who don’t conform to girly toys and princesses and are looking for more challenging ways to engage with the world around them, as well as parents who want to incite this spirit in their girls.

The Concept

To challenge the gender stereotypes I chose a famous quote, attributed through the ages to various male historical figures (from Hannibal to Seneca and Robert Sidney, 1st Earl of Leicester), and used it in the context of creative problem solving.

Open magazine with purple page featuring the text 'Either I will find a way or I will make one' and an image of a young girl with curly hair wearing glasses and focused on a STEM project.
A colorful poster at a bus stop reads, 'Either I will find a way or I will make one.' The poster features a young girl with glasses and curly hair, holding a toy. The urban street scene includes a blue bus and pedestrians walking by.
