Lettering Design

I’m a calligrapher and lettering artist based in Yorkshire, creating bespoke lettering and calligraphy for brands, businesses and creative projects across Leeds, Manchester and the UK.

My lettering work sits between calligraphy and graphic design — combining hand-drawn letterforms with a considered, refined approach. Each piece is created specifically for the project, whether it’s for branding, packaging, print, signage or digital use.

Lettering for designers and creative studios

I collaborate with designers and creative studios to provide bespoke lettering and calligraphy for branding, packaging and campaign work.

My role is to support the wider visual identity — creating hand-drawn letterforms that integrate seamlessly with existing design systems. I’m comfortable working to briefs, moodboards and brand guidelines, and can adapt the style and level of expressiveness to suit each project.

Lettering can be supplied as high-resolution artwork or vector files, ready for print or digital use. I’m happy to work as a named collaborator or behind the scenes, depending on the project.

What is lettering design?

Lettering design is the art of drawing letterforms by hand, rather than using existing fonts. This allows each piece to feel distinctive, intentional and tailored to the brand or message it represents.

Unlike typefaces, bespoke lettering is created for a specific purpose — giving projects personality, warmth and a handcrafted quality that works particularly well for brands looking to stand out.

How lettering can be used

I create custom lettering and calligraphy for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Branding and visual identity

  • Packaging and product design

  • Editorial and print projects

  • Signage and window displays

  • Marketing campaigns and social media

  • Events and promotional materials

Each project is designed with attention to tone, balance and legibility, ensuring the lettering works effectively in its final context.

How I work

My approach

As a professional calligrapher and engraving artist, my work is rooted in traditional techniques while remaining responsive to modern design needs.

I work closely with clients to understand the purpose, audience and setting for each piece before beginning the lettering process. The result is bespoke lettering that feels thoughtful, well-balanced and fit for purpose.
