WE WILL COVER

Once we learn how the brush pen works, we will practice the basic calligraphy strokes and learn to combine them into letters. We will cover all 26 letters of the alphabet and progress to writing words and short phrases. At the end of the class we will explore some easy modifications to the basic strokes to help us create our own individual modern calligraphy style.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

  • 2.5 hours of calligraphy instruction.

  • Personalised brush pen calligraphy kit.

  • Detailed handouts to complete during the workshop.

PERSONALISED TUITION

My aim is to give you plenty of help so you leave the class confident in your new skill and ready to practice on your own afterwards.

RELAXED, FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE

There is no better way to learn a new skill than surrounded by friends in a laid back atmosphere. You’ll be encouraged to ask questions, experiment and explore your creativity. Just join in and have fun!

ABOUT ME

Hey, I’m Ellie,

I am a lettering artist and calligrapher based in Halifax. I have worked as a graphic designer for over 15 years, but my love for the written word led me to pursue calligraphy.

My journey started in 2016 when I got some brush pens to try during my maternity leave. My little experiment soon turned into an obsession. Since then I have continued to develop my skills. I love experimenting with new materials, inks and textures, taking new classes in different calligraphy styles.

I create private commissions and wedding stationery but what I love most of all is sharing my passion for this beautiful art with new friends.

Whether you are looking for a new creative outlet or a fun way to spend a few hours, it would be an absolute delight to walk you through the first steps of your own calligraphy journey.
